Today is the Grand Opening of another new business in downtown Boulder City, please welcome the Iron Rose Plants + Vintage to town! Located at 525 Nevada Way (in the former Experienced Merchandise spot) please swing by and say hello to owner proprietor Anita Weisenbarger.
We asked her how she got her start and she told us how when she was visiting a Las Vegas spice merchant, she was completely taken by all of the amazing tropical plants to retailer had. The owner clipped a section off of one plant and told her how to root it in water. Much to her amazement the plant thrived and her love of nurturing exotic and tropical plants was born.
She started growing all sorts of plants and giving clippings to friends and family to the point where she realized that she needed to start charging for the service! Then, she started attending some of the area farmers markets and realized she had a hit on her hands. Anita began traveling regularly to California to buy stock and became a fixture at Market in the Alley in downtown Las Vegas. But merchandising outside in the dry and hot climate was a challenge, so she started looking for a permanent retail location.
Like so many people we talk to, she of course loved coming to Boulder City and when this location became available she jumped at the chance to be here! She will stock a variety of house plants, tropicals and succulents as well as an assortment of vintage antiques and furniture, and says she loves that ’70’s’ vibe.
