CCSD and CCASAPE reach agreement for Hybrid Instructional Model

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Clark County Association of School Administrators and Professional-Technical Employees (CCASAPE) to support the transition to the hybrid instructional model beginning on March 1, 2021, for Pre-kindergarten through third-grade students.

The intent of the MOA is to attempt to promote the health and safety of our CCSD students and staff during this pandemic.

“Trustees have heard and understand the concerns of employees about returning to school campuses,” said Board of School Trustees President Linda P. Cavazos. “These agreements are critical in setting the expectations and communicating the safety measures with the community and employee groups.”

“I am pleased that we have reached agreements with CCASAPE to address administrators’ safety concerns,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “I know our school administrators are hard at work preparing for the transition to the hybrid instructional model as we all appreciate the impact face-to-face instruction has on student learning.”

The MOA includes safety protocols and standards based on guidance from the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention including:

  • Daily symptom screening
  • Monthly COVID-19 testing
  • COVID-19 contact tracing
  • Providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to all employees
  • Strict and thorough classroom and building sanitation

On March 1, 2021, all elementary schools in CCSD will welcome pre-kindergarten to 3rd grade students for families who would like their child to return to campus for face-to-face instruction. Our instructional model of full-time distance education will continue as well for families. Throughout the second semester, the District will work to transition additional grade levels to the hybrid instructional model; however, there is currently no timeline for this transition.
